My mother’s birthday (A poem)

The sun was shining brightly one day when a woman gave her heart away.

She pushed with all her heart and soul, just to have her baby to hold.

This child grew fast, healthy, and strong, she too had children to call her own.

Many nights she lay in tears, for the first born child didn’t come for years.

God saw fit to give a daughter and son, then they had kids and so on and on.

Another birthday, a year gone bye, but for children she no longer sits and cries.

She speaks from her heart and is full of advice, though her kids are full grown so we don’t always play nice.

She wakes in the morning almost with the birds, to help with her grandkids, that get on her nerves.

She rides out to get them on snowy school days, she cuddles and feeds them in a motherly way.

She’s there when you need her, though sometimes she’s stressed, my mom is not quite like all the rest.

Today is her birthday, another year old, let’s pop out the bubbly (she brews her own) 😂

Happy birthday, to the August queen, you still rock like you did when you were seventeen.🎉🎊

I'm a 34 year old with 3 wonderful kids, an amazing husband that ended up rescuing me from who i thought was trying to rescue me. i am the woman that makes mistakes but learns from them. i am not who i was a little over a year ago. last year i was easily manipulated, being made to feel guilty, and struck down by people i trusted. this year i have learned about myself and still to be strong. how to protect myself and never be a victim again.
